our story

MORIYA (森屋) means “Forest House” a name that reflects our belief in being rooted in the local community and creating a natural, calming retreat for travellers. We believe that travel is more than sightseeing; it is the chance to genuinely experience a place, its culture, its craftsmanship, and its everyday rhythms.

As frequent travellers ourselves, we know how meaningful it is to arrive somewhere that feels intuitive, beautifully designed, and effortless to settle into. MORIYA was created with that spirit in mind. Designed from the ground up by our Osaka-based architect Shino-sama (志野様) MORIYA being her final project before retirement, the design embodies thoughtful design, warmth, and a deep respect for Japanese aesthetics.

Every detail within our spaces is intentionally chosen and locally sourced. Our furniture is crafted by Unico, a Tokyo-based brand under Misawa & Co., Ltd. (株式会社ミサワ), established in 1959. The artwork throughout our property is created by Osaka-based artists who share our belief in community and authenticity. Our decor, curated through Takano Mokku of Fukuoka Prefecture, an artisan workshop founded in 1942 adds warmth and craftsmanship to each room. We proudly serve Ogawa coffee and Ippodo tea, both sourced from Kyoto, bringing the region’s rich heritage and tradition directly to your stay.
